Event Host Policies
How Katoola expects event hosts to publish responsibly, respect attendees, and use platform tools.

These Event Host Policies govern organisers, promoters, collectives, businesses, venues, and individuals ("Hosts") using Katoola Events ("Katoola") to create, promote, manage, ticket, or operate events through the platform. Katoola is owned and operated by LevelOn Capital. These Policies operate together with: - the Katoola Terms of Service, - Organiser Terms, - Refund Policy, - Privacy Policy, - and all related platform rules and operational policies.
1. Platform Position
Katoola operates as a controlled event marketplace and event infrastructure platform.
Unless expressly stated otherwise:
- Katoola is not the operational organiser of third-party events,
- Katoola does not manage venue operations,
- Katoola does not supervise event staffing,
- and Hosts remain independently responsible for the events they create and operate.
2. Host Responsibilities
Hosts remain fully responsible for:
- event execution,
- operational management,
- venue management,
- crowd control,
- staffing,
- attendee safety,
- emergency planning,
- artist/vendor coordination,
- accessibility obligations,
- alcohol compliance,
- tax obligations,
- permits and licensing,
- security arrangements,
- and legal compliance relating to their events.
Hosts are responsible for ensuring all information submitted to Katoola is:
- accurate,
- lawful,
- operationally genuine,
- and not misleading.
3. Verification & Compliance
Hosts may be required to complete:
- identity verification,
- business verification,
- phone verification,
- banking verification,
- and compliance reviews.
Katoola reserves the right to:
- deny onboarding,
- reject verification,
- suspend monetisation access,
- request additional documentation,
- apply enhanced due diligence,
- or restrict operational capabilities
where reasonably necessary for:
- fraud prevention,
- operational protection,
- payment risk,
- compliance,
- or platform integrity.
Verification does not constitute endorsement or certification by Katoola.
4. Event Legitimacy
By listing an event, Hosts represent and warrant that:
- the event is genuine,
- they possess authority to host the event,
- venue arrangements are legitimate,
- advertised performers or vendors are authorised,
- and all required permissions, licences, approvals, and permits have been obtained.
Katoola reserves the right to:
- request supporting documentation,
- investigate suspicious listings,
- verify event legitimacy,
- review venue confirmations,
- and suspend events during investigations.
5. Prohibited Events
Hosts may not use Katoola for events involving:
- unlawful activity,
- fraud,
- violence,
- hate speech,
- deceptive schemes,
- unlawful gambling,
- counterfeit activity,
- intellectual property infringement,
- public safety risks,
- or conduct inconsistent with platform standards.
Katoola reserves broad operational discretion regarding platform suitability.
Legality alone does not guarantee platform approval.
6. Ticketing Rules
Hosts must:
- use authorised Katoola ticketing systems for paid public events unless expressly approved otherwise,
- maintain accurate ticket inventory,
- prevent duplicate ticketing,
- and operate legitimate admission procedures.
Tickets sold through Katoola may not be:
- transferred,
- resold,
- duplicated,
- redistributed,
- or commercially exploited without platform approval.
Hosts remain responsible for:
- ticket-checking procedures,
- check-in operations,
- venue admission enforcement,
- and operational ticket validation.
Katoola reserves the right to:
- invalidate tickets,
- suspend ticketing activity,
- restrict ticket inventory,
- or remove ticket access
where reasonably necessary for:
- fraud prevention,
- abuse,
- payment reversals,
- operational protection,
- or platform integrity.
7. Payments, Payouts & Settlements
Payments processed through Katoola may involve third-party payment providers.
Katoola:
- is not a bank,
- is not a financial institution,
- does not store full payment method information,
- and does not guarantee uninterrupted payment-provider availability.
Standard organiser payouts are generally processed approximately three (3) business days after successful event completion verification.
Katoola reserves the right to:
- delay payouts,
- suspend settlements,
- withhold funds,
- apply reserve controls,
- pause transactions,
- or refuse payout processing
where reasonably necessary for:
- fraud prevention,
- disputes,
- compliance,
- excessive chargebacks,
- operational protection,
- or platform integrity.
8. Refund Responsibilities
Hosts remain primarily responsible for:
- refunds,
- event fulfilment,
- attendee disputes,
- chargebacks,
- and organiser-related financial obligations.
Katoola reserves the right to:
- intervene operationally,
- facilitate refunds,
- reverse pending settlements,
- suspend payouts,
- or issue refunds without Host approval where reasonably necessary.
After settlement funds have been released:
- Hosts remain primarily responsible for ongoing refund obligations relating to their events unless otherwise required by law.
9. Event Cancellations & Postponements
Hosts may not unilaterally cancel paid public events after ticket sales begin without platform review.
Katoola reserves the right to:
- review cancellation requests,
- determine operational handling,
- investigate disputes,
- coordinate refund workflows,
- delay payouts,
- or suspend organiser access where reasonably necessary.
Postponed events may remain valid unless otherwise determined by Katoola or required by law.
10. Venue, Safety & Emergency Responsibilities
Hosts remain responsible for:
- crowd safety,
- emergency planning,
- emergency coordination,
- venue compliance,
- occupancy management,
- medical preparedness where appropriate,
- security staffing,
- and compliance with public gathering requirements.
Katoola does not independently certify:
- venue suitability,
- crowd safety,
- accessibility compliance,
- emergency readiness,
- or operational event safety.
12. Marketing & Promotions
Hosts remain responsible for compliance with:
- advertising laws,
- sponsorship rules,
- influencer marketing obligations,
- giveaway regulations,
- consumer protection requirements,
- and promotional compliance obligations.
Hosts may not:
- create misleading promotions,
- manipulate rankings,
- generate fake engagement,
- create artificial demand,
- or misrepresent events.
13. Rankings, Visibility & Promotion
Katoola may:
- rank,
- recommend,
- prioritise,
- feature,
- suppress,
- categorise,
- or limit visibility of Hosts or events using:
- platform algorithms,
- editorial systems,
- commercial promotion systems,
- engagement signals,
- trust indicators,
- operational considerations,
- and platform standards.
Visibility is not guaranteed.
Paid promotion may influence placement and exposure.
Featured placement does not constitute endorsement by Katoola.
14. Host Conduct & Enforcement
Hosts agree not to:
- engage in fraud,
- manipulate platform systems,
- abuse attendees,
- bypass platform payments,
- create fake accounts,
- scrape platform systems,
- exploit operational vulnerabilities,
- or misuse platform infrastructure.
Katoola may apply:
- warnings,
- trust penalties,
- ranking restrictions,
- feature limitations,
- payout restrictions,
- temporary suspensions,
- or permanent bans
where reasonably necessary.
15. Investigations & Operational Reviews
Katoola reserves the right to:
- investigate Host behaviour,
- review event legitimacy,
- audit suspicious activity,
- request supporting documentation,
- preserve records,
- and conduct operational reviews
where reasonably necessary for:
- fraud prevention,
- dispute resolution,
- legal compliance,
- operational integrity,
- or platform protection.
Katoola is not obligated to disclose all moderation systems, fraud-detection methods, or internal operational thresholds.
16. Insurance & Legal Compliance
Hosts remain responsible for obtaining insurance where appropriate, including:
- public liability insurance,
- event cancellation coverage,
- vendor/staff coverage,
- and operational risk coverage.
Hosts remain independently responsible for:
- tax obligations,
- licensing,
- permits,
- music rights,
- artist permissions,
- venue permissions,
- sponsorship rights,
- and legal compliance obligations.
17. Intellectual Property
Hosts may not:
- infringe intellectual property rights,
- impersonate brands or artists,
- use unauthorised promotional material,
- or misuse third-party content.
Katoola reserves the right to:
- remove content,
- investigate infringement claims,
- suspend listings,
- or apply enforcement measures where reasonably necessary.
18. Limitation of Liability
Katoola provides organiser infrastructure on an "as available" and "as is" basis.
Katoola does not guarantee:
- uninterrupted availability,
- event success,
- organiser profitability,
- ticket sales,
- recommendation outcomes,
- ranking outcomes,
- or uninterrupted third-party infrastructure availability.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Katoola is not liable for:
- organiser losses,
- venue disputes,
- attendee claims,
- artist/vendor disputes,
- third-party failures,
- indirect losses,
- reputational harm,
- or consequential damages.
Katoola's total liability shall be limited to the amount paid to Katoola relating to the relevant activity or transaction to the extent permitted by law.
19. Indemnity
Hosts agree to indemnify and hold harmless Katoola and LevelOn Capital against:
- claims,
- disputes,
- liabilities,
- penalties,
- legal costs,
- chargebacks,
- regulatory actions,
- and damages
arising from:
- hosted events,
- organiser conduct,
- attendee claims,
- fraud,
- legal violations,
- intellectual property disputes,
- or misuse of the platform.
20. Governing Law
These Policies are governed by the laws of Malawi.
Disputes relating to Host activity or platform use are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Malawi unless otherwise required by law.
21. Changes to These Policies
Katoola may:
- update,
- revise,
- replace,
- or modify
these Policies over time.
Continued use of organiser services after updates may constitute acceptance of revised policies.
